Codeference 2023: A three-day journey of knowledge sharing and connecting with students

At the end of October, we had a great time sharing our experience and introducing the IT world to a group of students during the 3-day conference at Zlatibor mountain - Codeference.

Codeference 2023: A three-day journey of knowledge sharing and connecting with students

We organized and participated in various events during which we tried to share our knowledge with students and interact with them by answering all of their questions about the IT industry. Making that first step towards becoming an IT engineer can be challenging, which is why we are always willing to share our experiences with them and make that transition easier.

At the end of October, we had a great time sharing our experience and introducing the IT world to a group of students during the 3-day conference at Zlatibor mountain - Codeference.

CodeDay - a great intro to the next event

Our journey started a week before the conference at the Faculty of Technical Sciences, where our colleagues Bojana and Lazar discussed the basics of “clean code” through practical examples. Students also had a chance to ask everything they wanted to know about career opportunities in the IT industry.

Codeference - Let the games begin!

After a great warm-up during CodeDay, our colleagues Marija, Milan, Nikola, Jovana and Isidora packed their bags and headed out to Zlatibor. In a few days, over 500 students had the opportunity to meet companies from the IT sector, learn more about internship and employment possibilities, and connect with relevant people from the industry.

We also did our best to share knowledge and important career advice for students through interactive activities:

Lecture: “From the beginner to the experienced engineer”

As students take their first steps into our industry, we understand that all of this can be challenging and filled with a lot of questions and insecurities about the next steps.

With that in mind, our colleague Milan Deket, shared his own journey from the practitioner to the professional he is today. Through sharing his personal experience and career path, Milan talked about his ups and downs, mistakes and lessons he learned from them, all that for one goal - to motivate you for further improvement and to never give up!

I’m always happy to share my knowledge and experience with younger colleagues, mainly because I believe that they often lack some good examples that are proven to work among experienced engineers. Conference was a great opportunity for business and pleasure - chatting about engineering while enjoying fresh Zlatibor air. I’m under the impression that new kids, with some new energy, are coming and I’m thrilled to welcome them into the business world.

Workshop: ”Demystifying OAuth and OpenID Connect”

During the workshop, students took a chance to learn more about how OAuth and OpenID work, their importance and the benefits they offer in terms of user security. Big thanks to our colleague Nikola for a great lecture and practical advice!

Panel discussion: “Steps and advice at the beginning of a career for the future engineers”

Is there a better way to learn from the experience of a professional in the field? What if we told you that there is?

Our colleague Milan joined a panel discussion with 3 other professionals from various companies in order to bring their career adventure closer to students. Hearing different points of view, diverse perspectives and work advice from these experts is immeasurable. There is no doubt that students will make the best possible use of it.

    Activation: “Engineer, sorry!”

Besides absorbing experience, students had the opportunity to test their knowledge while having fun. We prepared several activities for students, but one of the most popular was a life-sized board game that we named “Engineer, sorry!”’ where participating students could win cool prizes!

    See you soon!

We had an amazing few days of learning, getting to know each other, sharing experiences, having fun, but our journey isn’t over yet. We are looking forward to welcoming a group of students to our new office space, Radnički, where they’ll have the opportunity to attend a workshop and meet our colleagues.

We asked one of the students to share his impressions of the conference:

The conference was exceptionally inspiring and informative, providing me with the opportunity to get to know companies in the region better and understand various aspects of the IT industry. In addition, I managed to meet and connect with other fellow students more effectively.

Nikola Kušlaković, Students of the Faculty of Technical Science

This three-day journey has been unforgettable. We have had the privilege of connecting with talented students and sharing our passion for IT. Thank you all for being a big part of this journey, and we can’t wait to see you again next year! Until then, stay an innovator, not just a problem-solver!
