Why soft skills matter?

Why soft skills matter?

The term that I use the most and the term I dislike the most - “soft skills”.

By definition, soft skills are those skills that are difficult to measure, but one of the most important skills for your career. Why? Because not only do they define leadership and creativity, but rather the way we communicate, deliver our tasks and operate on a daily bases.

People are used to believe that developing their personal growth means admitting they have flaws or that they are not good enough. It is actually totally the opposite - by taking one step toward becoming better, they are showing their self awareness, willingness and courage to exit the comfort zone.

Vega IT colleagues Maja Neducic i Dejan giving presentation Why soft skills matter. By definition, soft skills are those skills that are difficult to measure, but one of the most important skills for your career.

Ask yourself: If you do not do anything today, what will change tomorrow? If you are not satisfied with one (or more) aspects of your life, what do you need to do in order to change that?

At Vega IT our colleagues have the opportunity for improvement through various workshops which allows them to pursue their personal goals and therefore become a better version of themselves.

Time Management, Decision Making Process, Emotional Intelligence at Work, Assertive Communication, etc. are some of the workshops which are conducted by my colleague Dejan and me.

Technical skills may get your foot in the door, while your people skills are what opens most of the doors to come. Work ethic, attitude, communication skills, emotional intelligence and a whole host of other personal attributes are the soft skills that are crucial for career success.

Do something today that your future self will thank you for! Which workshop has left the greatest impression on you?
